Leavitt was raised and lived in Leander. A carpenter and building contractor by trade, he retired to Lake LBJ, Kingsland, in 2002, where he enjoyed swimming and playing in the lake with his grandkids. He also loved going to their athletic events especially softball and baseball. His hobbies included riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his friends, remodeling, welding, fishing and hunting. Wiley was also a member of the Kingsland Community Church for many years. Leavitt is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn of Kingsland; daughter Tina Leavitt Simmank and husband Gary of Marble Falls, and son Jeff Leavitt and wife Kim of Leander; grandchildren Valerie Simmank, Kasey Leavitt, Justin Leavitt, and Lee Ann Harkins and husband Dusty; great-grandchildren Drake and Sam Harkins; sisters Ruby Floyd of Liberty Hill, Doris McEachern of Liberty Hill, Christine Harris of Freeport, Texas, and Mabel Travis of Freeport, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Patricia Coleman and Vida Nelson. A visitation will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Kingsland Community Church with Rev. John Woody and Rev. Tommy Beck officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet. An online guest register may be signed at www.Putnam-Cares.com.
