Walter John Zagst Jan. 6, 1952 ~ Oct. 22, 2012
Walter John Zagst passed away on Oct. 22, after a year-long battle with a rare bile duct cancer. Born Jan. 6, 1952, Zagst was raised in Houston and spent his adult years in the Austin area. He was a master carpenter and woodworker, and enjoyed golf, sailing and the annual Zagst Brothers Croquet Tournament.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Marie Zagst, and his nephew Benjamin. He is survived by wife Doris and their beloved dogs Sara, Skylar and Teddy; brothers Chuck, Terry, Fred, Kay, and their wives; nephews Trey, Joni, Rusty, Angie, their wives and their children; and dear friends Ted and John Zapp. He will be missed by his many friends and extended family for his laugh, stories, beautiful woodworking, and optimistic attitude.
A remembrance gathering for family and friends is pending. Memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels and More.
