Mark David Barnard of Burnet, passed away on Dec. 18 after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 1, 1964 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Rev. Michael and Lucie Barnard. Barnard graduated from Lampasas High School in 1982, from Howard Payne University in 1986 where he played football, and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He lived in Burnet for 15 years before his death, where he enjoyed raising his ten children.
He especially loved coaching and mentoring his own children as well as the youth of his community.
Barnard was a loan officer and youth minister in Lampasas for a number of years and was the beloved pastor of Naruna Baptist Church for 12 years. Mark, affectionately known as "Big Daddy,” loved playing football, drinking Dr. Pepper, and going on ski trips to Colorado where he lived for a couple of years.
He is survived by wife CJ; mother Lucie; step-father Bill Greene; children Alexis, Michael, Jordan,
Mackenzie, Sean, and Jessica Barnard; step-sons Andrew, Daniel, Zachary, and Jacob and wife Oleta Strouth; sister Andrea and husband John Pelczar three grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces.
Funeral services were held on Friday morning at Hill Country Fellowship in Burnet. Condolences
may be sent to the Mark Barnard Memorial Fund at the First State Bank of Burnet.
