Paula Bell Hill Aug. 26, 1940 ~ Feb. 27, 2013February 15, 2013, 9:09 am by Staff Reports
She was born on Aug. 26, 1940 in Dublin, Texas, graduated from Dublin High School in 1958 and attended Tarleton State University, McClennan County Community College and Austin Community College. Paula married Durwin Hill on June 13, 1959 and together they raised two daughters. Paula retired in 1996 after 22 years of service from the Department of Veterans Affairs in Austin as a Systems and Procedures Analyst. Prior to that she worked at the Methodist Children’s Home, Richfield High School and the VA Medical Center in Waco. After retirement, Paula and Durwin became full-time RVers, traveling and enjoying the different areas of the United States. In November 2004 they became permanent residents of Kerrville. Paula was a faithful Christian woman and an active member of the First Baptist Church in Marble Falls, where she was a member of the choir, the annual Christmas Pageant and a member of the Welcome Center for Visitors. After moving to Kerrville, Paula became an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, the Jubilee Sunday School Class and the Prime Time Singers. Paula was a gifted artist and she was an avid quilter who belonged to the Beatitudes Quilt Bee and the Kerrville Quilt Guild. Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Herbert Bell and her son-in-law Gerry Grafa. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Durwin Hill; brother Charles Bell; children Sherri Grafa and Christi and Daniel Marrufo; and grandchildren Leticia and Ramiro Urieta, Maddison Marrufo and Alissa Mae Marrufo. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 3 from 5-7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Services will be held Monday, March 4, 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Jackson Road in Kerrville, officiated by Rev. John Wheat and Rev. Donald Patterson. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roy Hickman, Leon Miller, Kal Nyitrai, Chris Christopherson, Gene Ayers, and Stan Cullison. Honorary pallbearers will be the "Sistahs” Bible Study Group: Delba Ayers, Martha Bass, Elaine Bell, Georganna Bell, Danna Cofer, Susan Dennis, Amy Eldred, Joann Hintze, Leta Jones, Cathy Krutsinger, Judy Phillips, Darlene Redden, Judy Schaefer, Irene Taylor, Cassy Tomerlin, Lou Walker, Bettie Webb, Vickie Williams, Betty Wolfenson, and Jan Woolnough. The family wishes to thank Anna Garcia, Dinisha Vargas and Peterson Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Paula during her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church "Forward by Faith” Building Fund, Peterson Hospice or Christian Women’s Job Corp.
