Ed was born in Bucyrus, Kan. on Dec. 26,1930 to Herman and Carnissa Willis. Ed was raised and Graduated High School in Louisburg, Kansas in 1948.
In 1951, he went into the Navy and served in the Korean conflicts. Prior to leaving for active duty, he married Arlene on Aug. 4, 1951 and was a loving husband for 62 years.
After the Navy, Ed was a dedicated member of the Kansas City Police Department for 10 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene, sister Mary (and Earl) Williams of Paola, Kan., a daughter, Gelene (and Wayne) Johnson of Leander, and a son, Ed (and Mary) Willis of Southlake. Ed was proud of his three grandsons; Allen Johnson, Cliff (and Amanda) Johnson and Christopher Willis, and step-granddaughter, Laura (and Michael) Nichols. Katie Johnson is his precious great granddaughter. One of Katie’s favorite memories is riding in the golf cart with her Pop Pop looking for deer, rabbits and birds.
Ed and Arlene left Harlingen in 1996 after living there for 28 years. He was a sales manager at Sears. Retirement was enjoyable with his golf, playing cards and he loved reading western novels.
Arlene and Ed have lived in Burnet for 16 years. He was an avid golfer at Delaware Springs Golf Course, and had four holes in one, including two at DSGC.
He was a Master Mason and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Ed passed away at Lakeway Regional Hospital on Oct. 17. He will be missed by family and friends. Memorial donations may be sent to the Scottish Rite Hospital of Dallas. PO box 199300, Dallas, TX 75219.
