Farest Elmo (Pete) Reed, 85, of Burnet died Nov. 7.
After many years of helping others, Pete Reed died trying to help his grandson. Pete passed away at his home in Burnet. Pete was born in Star, Texas and raised in Hamilton.
He was one of nine children born to the late William Riley and Nannie Elizabeth Gordon Reed. He is survived by one sister, Alice Willis. Pete was the beloved husband of Leola Maxine Mckandless Reed for over 60 years. Pete is survived by two daughters, Deborah Ann Reed Denison and husband Stan, Rebecca Kay Reed Ayers and husband Ken, and one son, William Gary Reed.
Pete will forever be remembered by his treasured grandchildren, Jerry Wayne Holt and wife Sandi, Stephen Jay Russell, Kristopher Dual Ayers and wife Stephanie, and Matthew William Reed.
He cherished his great grandchildren, Steven Paul Whisman, Caitlin Marie Russell, Jayden Claire Russell, and Rebecca Rose Ayers. Pete was loved by countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Chad Elliott Denison.
Pete loved listening to country music, harvesting pecans, dominoes, hunting, fishing, laughing, being with his family, having fun with friends and serving many years as a deacon of the First Baptist Church in Burnet, TX. Pete also was well known for being "One of the Best Tree Grafters in Burnet County.”
Pete touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation with family on Friday night, Nov. 15, from 5-9 p.m. at Edgar Funeral Home in Burnet.
The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Burnet on Saturday, November 16, at 10:30am. A graveside service will be held at 3pm at Murphree Cemetery in Evant.
