Marble Falls loses homecoming, 37-7

Marble Falls cross country shines at Round Rock

Marble Falls cross-country team took third overall in the 20-team Class 4A boys division of the McNeil Cross Country Invitational Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

All five members of the boys team ran personal best for the season led by Jordan Wright’s 16:33 in the 5K event. The team finished with 82 points and finished behind Salado (44) and El Paso Del Valle (68). District rival Dripping Springs was sixth at 97 points.

El Paso Del Valle’s Ivan Rodriguez ran a 15:54 to win the boys Class 4A division.

D’Anthony Wall took 24th at 17:16 followed by Chance Daniels (35th, 17:36), Cody Skipper (39th, 17:45) and Nick Cano (45th, 17:50). James Ramos was 71st at 18:13 and Colten Hagood 93rd at 18:35 for the Mustangs.

In the girls division of Class 4A, Tess Johnson nudged out teammate Sarah Stripling at the finish line by a second with a 200:07 time in the 5000 meters girls race. Stripling ran a 20:08. They finished 11th and 12th, respectively.

Darby Hibbs was 17th for the Lady Mustangs with a 20:24 and Haley Stephens was 38th at 21:23. The girls had only four runners so they weren’t able to count in the team standings.

In the JV competition, Chase Martin was 7th in 13:33 and Yanna Gallyamova 39th in 14:18 out of a total of 336 runners. The JV boys finishers were Ishmael Montoya in 20:38-162nd, Tait Johnson in 22:36- 290th and Daniel Mata in 22:43- 297th out of 384 runners.
