Dorothy Marie Guuey (Dottie), 97, of Marble Falls, TX and formally of Towsend, MT and Tempe, AZ, passed away on August 16, 2024 at Granite Mesa Health center in Marble Falls, Tx. Dottie was born on August 5, 1927, on a farm outside Townsend Montana, a small farming town approximately 30 miles southeast of the capital Helena. She was the second child to Lester and Clara Ballard of Townsend, MT.
She grew up on the farm and attended the public schools in Townsend, graduating from Broadwater High School in 1945. She enjoyed music, playing in the high school band, dancing with the boys and her friends, seeing movies in the only theater in town and working as a waitress in the local diner meeting all the folks that came in from the small community.
In March of 1947 she married her long-time friend and true love Maurice (Maury) Guuey. They had four chil dren together, Randy, Rick, Rod and Ronda. They traveled throughout the US and part of Europe as Maury was serving in the Army until his discharge in 1957 and was moved to several bases.
Dottie was a secretary specializing in the real estate and legal fields. They lived in Montana and Eastern Washington until they moved to Tempe, Arizona (suburb of Phoenix) in summer of 1963 to pursue new opportunities. Dottie was very active in the Episcopal church, the women’s organization Beta Sigma Phi International and close friends with many neighbors and work associates in the Phoenix area.
Dottie enjoyed hosting dinner parties, playing bridge, dancing, singing, traveling, working and raising her family. Dottie and Maury had a very loving 60 years of marriage until his death in 2007. In 2011, she retired and moved to Marble Falls, Tx to be around her son’s Randy and Rick. She moved to Granite Mesa Health center in late 2018 for hip surgery recovery but once healed, decided she enjoyed being around the stau and residents and wanted to stay.
Dottie had an infectious and loving personality and was able to get along with a lot of people. She enjoyed conversations, hugs, music and participating in activities with the stau and fellow residents.
Dottie is survived by her son Rod (Johnnie), eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
