Carmen Castaneda

August 14, 1937 —September 3, 2024 Carmen Castaneda went to her eternal rest Tuesday, September 3, 2024 surrounded by her daughters and a granddaughter. The daughter of Mariano and Josefa Trujillo, Carmen was born in Austin, Texas and was a proud graduate of Stephen F.

Carmen Castaneda went to her eternal rest Tuesday, September 3, 2024 surrounded by her daughters and a granddaughter.

The daughter of Mariano and Josefa Trujillo, Carmen was born in Austin, Texas and was a proud graduate of Stephen F. Austin High. She married Jesse Castaneda and moved to Marble Falls, Texas where she would live the rest of her life, with the exception of an eight-year stint in Cold Spring, Minnesota.

Carmen performed administrative work for a number of businesses throughout her life. She worked for Texas School for the Deaf, Cold Spring School Library, Marble Falls Public Library, and held various positions over many years with Marble Falls ISD ending with ESL teacher assistant. She was also a co-owner of J and C Granite Works, a granite business she co-founded with her husband.

A devout Catholic, Carmen lived her life and raised her family with a strong faith. She was a longtime member of St. John’s Catholic Church, serving as a eucharistic minister and a member of several church ministries. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going on outings with family and friends whenever possible. She loved conjunto music and would dance all night if allowed.

Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Mary Rodriguez.

She is survived by son Jesse Castaneda, Jr. and wife DeDe, daughters Patty Montoya and husband Javier, Dotti de la Hoya and husband Francisco, and Priscilla Castaneda all of Marble Falls, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, brother Mariano Trujillo, Jr., and wife Esperanza, and sister Estella Torres and husband Juan of Austin, many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of cherished friends.

Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, September 8 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 Hwy 281 North, Marble Falls, with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 pm. In celebration of Carmen’s life, a Holy Mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church, 105 RM 1431, Marble Falls, on Monday, September 9, at 11:00 am. Interment will be immediately after mass at Marble Falls City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Juan de la Hoya, Christopher Castaneda, Jesse Tyler Castaneda, Javier Montoya, Enrique Montoya, and great-grandson Alec Valdez.

The family would like to thank all caregivers and those who ouered support through out Mom’s ‘long goodbye’ brought on by Alzheimer’s and dementia.
