Burnet County commissioners resolved to oppose a rock quarry, revisited an ongoing investigation of sheriff's office payroll and reinstated a burn ban during its Sept. 24 regular meeting.

One of the more contentious issues prompted attendees to erupt briefly, during discussion between the district attorney and county judge.

District Attorney Wiley A. “Sonny” McAfee of the 33rd and 424th Judicial District stood at the speaker podium to discuss details related to his investigation of allegations relat- ed to sheriff's office employee payroll records, primarily focused on possible unwarranted overtime pay for field training operations.
