A remarkable group of athletes has found camaraderie, competition, and purpose through the Highland Lakes Wranglers, a Special Olympics bowling team. Every Monday, these adults with special needs gather at Marble Falls’ Putters and Gutters Fun Center, forging unbreakable bonds and a reputation for spirit.

The Wranglers, comprised mainly of Burnet and Marble Falls residents, have been perfecting their game for years. All team members are over the age of 22, and for them, bowling transcends sport – it’s a way of life. “I love bowling with my friends,” shares one athlete. These supportive dynamic fuels their growth, both on and off the lanes.

With 15 members strong, the team’s spirit and enthusiasm continue to inspire and uplift one another. Many of the athletes have been on the team for a long time, creating a sense of continuity and connection that fosters growth. “Being a part of the team gives them something to look forward to each week,” Coach Shirley explains.
