Early voting for the Nov. 7 election will begin on Monday, Oct. 21, and run through Nov. 1. Please note that the early voting location has been changed in our area. It has been moved from the South County Annex to Texas Tech University at Highland Lakes, located just north of the Annex at 806 Steve Hawkins Pkwy.
Golf Carts
We want to remind everyone that bicycles and golf carts are classified as vehicles by Texas traf- fic codes and must follow all traffic codes. We have had several calls recently about bicyclists and golf carts disobeying stop signs.
With the holiday season just around the corner and school being out shortly, the number of complaints increases each year regarding the operation of golf carts on our streets by underage children.
The complaints we usually receive range from children on golf carts running stop signs, driving on the wrong side of the street, and not being old enough to control the cart adequately.
City Ordinances prohibit the operation of a golf cart on the streets without holding a valid driver’s license. Our ordinance has provisions allowing an underage child to drive a golf cart, provided a licensed driver is in the front seat with the operator. In addition, all carts operating on the streets of Meadowlakes must be registered with the city and have proper lighting for operation at night; for more information on registering your golf cart, please call city hall at 830-693-2951.
