Persistent questions and new information have prompted the district at- torney's office to re-en gage a possible criminal investigation into the county sheriff's office payroll concerns.
Wiley “Sonny” McAfee told The Highlander his probe is separate from the Baker Tilly forensic review which Burnet County Commissioners Court launched in September 2023 (Find related story on Page 1).
The financial review, as opposed to McAfee’s investigation, would focus primarily on overtime entries at the Burnet County Sheriff's Office.
