Email dump calls into question motive of payroll probe

A public information request by a citizen has produced dozens of emails raising questions about a forensic accounting review of the Burnet County Sheriff's Office alleged payroll practices.

As questions persist, the 33rd/424th Judicial District Attorney's Office has fast-tracked its own independent investigation into those payroll practices with a new focus on “whistleblowers” in that probe.
