Following the Oct 21 incident at the Central Water Plant, I want to express my pride in our water plant staff and first responders’ swift action. Their immediate priority was protecting plant employees and nearby residents.

Their immediate priority was protecting plant employees and nearby residents.

Rather than relying on email communications, they took direct action— driving through streets, assisting pedestrians, warning outdoor workers, and conducting door- to-door notifications about the chlorine gas cloud. Once the immediate crisis was addressed and facts were gathered, we informed the broader community via email blast.
