There is a little-known secret in Kingsland. The Kingsland/Lake LBJ Chamber & Visitor Cen - ter manages the beautiful community park off Euel Moore Road. But the free park's many improve - ments don't come for free.
"Most people don't re - alize the park is not sup - ported by taxes or other public funds. Costs are covered by donations, launch fees, and rental of the pavilion and park building," said Park Com - mittee Chair Andy Virdell. The park land was deeded to the community of Kingsland in 1962 for use as a public park with the chamber as designated trustee. Since the devastating 2018 flood, many busi - nesses, organizations and individuals have stepped up to improve the park. The latest major up - grade needed is the build - ing, which will be called The Hall at Kingsland Community Park. "This capital cam -
paign will give the com - munity an affordable place to rent for parties, showers, receptions and other events," Virdell said. You can help build this important asset with a de - ductible donation to Keep Kingsland Beautiful, a nonprofit entity under the Kingsland Chamber. The chamber received a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and contractors are providing services at cost with Goliath Builder leading the effort.
