Guardsman receives warm welcome from fellow officers

For U.S. Army National Guardsman Cory Jones, the logistics of an airport pickup took on a special meaning recently.

On Oct. 23, Granite Shoals Police Department shared images of Jones, a fellow peace officer, upon completion of his deployment duties being picked up at Austin Bergstrom International Airport. He didn't expect members of the agency, the police chief as well as his wife, Karen, and toddler daughter, Kennedi, to greet him all at once.

“My foremost expectation was reconnecting with my wife, giving her a big ol' hug because I hadn't seen her in about 316 days,” Jones said. “I wasn't sure exactly anything beyond that.
