TCEQ rock crusher meeting tonight

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) officials plan to hold a public meeting at 7 p.m., tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Hill Country Fellowship Hall, 200 Houston Clinton Dr. in Burnet.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) officials plan to hold a public meeting at 7 p.m., tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Hill Country Fellowship Hall, 200 Houston Clinton Dr. in Burnet.

During the meeting, TCEQ officials hope the general public will offer comments and feedback related to plans by Construction Partners Inc. (previously Asphalt Inc.) to build a rock crusher quarry north of the Burnet city limit in Hoover Valley at 3221 FM 3509.

Currently, TCEQ is reviewing the quarry permit application number 176835.

Many Burnet residents have indicated already that they believe the quarry operations could harm the natural beauty of Burnet County and the surrounding Hill Country, particularly near Longhorn Caverns.

Also, several residents believe quarry operations could create more traffic congestion near Texas 29 and U.S. 281 (the main intersection in Burnet), threaten endangered species, release countless amounts of dry dust particles into the air which could harm livestock and thriving wineries and obscure the majestic view of Falkenstein Castle along Park Road 4.

Construction Partners representative have been invited to attend the meeting, according to officials.

Comments on the pending permit application may be mailed to Office of the Chief Clerk, MC-105, TCEQ, P.O. Box 13087, Austin, Texas 78711-3087; courier or hand-delivered to Office of the Chief Clerk, TCEQ, 12100 Park 35 Circle, Bldg, F, Austin, TX 78753; faxed to 512-239-3311 and online. According to the TCEQ public notice, the permit application by Construction Partners is available to view and copy 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the TCEQ Central Office and the TCEQ Austin Regional Office, located at 12100 Park 35 Circle, Building A, Room 179, Austin, Texas 78753-1808.
