Burnet County area emergency officials shut down roads and called for evacuations Dec. 17 following a propane tank hauling vehicle crash on RM 2342.
Multiple agencies responded to an area near the crash around 9:30 a.m. in Hoover’s Valley.
The rollover caused a breach in the 3,000 gallon tank, authorities confirmed. The driver escaped without serious injury. Emergency officials called for evacuations in the area, extending into the nearby Kingsland community as well.
A Hazmat team responded to the crash, which was off the roadway, veering into private property. The evacuation notice, via reverse robocalls, was ended about 9:45 p.m. The scene was cleared around midnight.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Department of Public Safety.
