Morning Hike

For the morning hike at 10 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025, participants meet at the Lake Trail Trailhead starting at 9:30 a.m. (the parking lot straight across from the old HQ building).

Join in an easy/ moderate hike to the Primitive Camping area, where visitors will have the option to then complete a longer, more challenging hike.

Short option: Lake Trail to Primitive Camping – a little over 2 miles but with the option to turn back at any time.

Easy terrain, mostly stroller friendly although some spots can be tricky.

Long option: Adding in Pecan Flats loops brings it to just under 3 miles. Rocky, sometimes difficult terrain, not suitable for everyone or strollers.

Note: We have two allterrain GRIT wheelchairs available for use that morning, perfect for the shorter version of the morning hike. Please call Ranger Jamie to reserve one ahead of time.

Cost is free with a normal day pass; $7 for each adult 13 and older.

You do not need to register or make a reservation for this event, just be sure you have a day pass purchased for everyone attending.

All events subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.

The venue is located at 3630 Park Road 4 West. Call 512-793-2223 for more information or visit tpwd.texas.gov or email FOIL, friendsofinks@ yahoo.com.
