Llano County swears in new sheriff

Marquis Cantu will assume Llano County sheriff duties Jan. 1 after being sworn in by Llano County Judge Ron Cunningham on that day.

Marquis Cantu will assume Llano County sheriff duties Jan. 1 after being sworn in by Llano County Judge Ron Cunningham on that day.

“I want to thank everyone that supported me to get to this point. At 12:01 am I took the Oath of Office and then turned around and gave the oath to our Llano County Deputies,” he wrote in a social media statement. “It was late at night and so many deer on the roadway however, it was a great crowd at our courthouse to witness this occasion.

“I am very appreciative and honored to be the Llano County Sheriff.”
