Horseshoe Bay City Council members apparently can look forward to some good news when they meet Tuesday afternoon.
They’re scheduled to review an audit of the city’s finances for
the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, and while that audit isn’t yet publicly available, Mayor Elsie Thurman, who got an advance look at it, is happy with it.
“It (the audit) shows we’re still in great financial shape,” she said, adding that the independent auditors had “high praise for our accounting staff.”
Municipal audits are done under contract by independent auditing firms which
provides an unbiased, objective assessments of whether public resources are responsibly and effectively managed.
This “helps government organizations achieve accountability and integrity, improve operations, and instill confidence among citizens and stakeholders,” according to the non-profit Institute for Local Government.
Once the council approves the audit it will be available on the city’s web site at www.horseshoebay- tx.gov.
The regular meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. at city hall, 1 Community Drive.
