Texans for Responsible Aggregate Mining (TRAM) requests the public submit comments on a proposed quarry and aggregate processing plant near Inks Lake and Longhorn Caverns in Burnet County.

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) is accepting public comments for a permit submitted by Asphalt Inc. under the Highland Lakes Watershed Ordinance (Permit #2024-5606).

The LCRA has determined the application to be “administratively complete,” however, no hydrological or geological assessment has been completed. Therefore, the potential impacts to Longhorn Caverns – a nearby natural cave system that is the centerpiece and namesake of a Texas State Park – and the area’s water resources have not been adequately considered.
