We are sad to share Murrell Edward Brooks, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on February 4, 2025, at the age of 60.
In 1964 Murrell was born in Johnson City, Texas, to Murrell Edward Brooks, Sr. and Janie Rodriguez Brooks. He was raised in Granite Shoals and attended schools in Marble Falls. He then went on to build houses, become a cabinet- and furniture-maker, before earning a degree from Texas State Technical Institute in Waco to become a machinist and then ultimately, a tooland- die maker. He excelled at everything he put his hands and mind to. He was an avid reader and loved the outdoors, especially helping his dad chop cedar in cedar breaks all around the Texas Hill Country during his growing up years.
He is predeceased by his father, Murrell Edward Brooks, Sr.; grandparents Orin C. and Claudia Wise Brooks, and Merced and Nazaria Rodriguez;
Jr.
niece Desiree Hinton; and many beloved uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He is survived by his mother, Janie; his daughters Claudia Brooks and Jordan Brooks; sisters Monica DeLoach (Daniel), Valerie Rodriguez, and Melanie Wilk; brothers AJ Torres and Jaime Torres; nieces Amanda Arp, Haley Woodcock, Audrey Hinton, Harley Wilk, Kadyn Torres and Khloe Torres; nephews Daniel DeLoach, Jr. and Matthew Wilk; aunts and uncles, Susie Brooks, Lora Benda, Tempie Hancock, Pat Floyd, and Mike Rodriguez (Beatriz); many dearly-loved cousins; special friend Ruthchelle Nillasca and family; and lifelong friends, Chris Clendennen and Harold Williamson.
A celebration of Murrell’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 11 at 3pm at Cross-View Baptist Church, 501 12th Street in Marble Falls.
