Conservation series to share tips on saving water

The Green Thumb Program, promoted by the local master gardeners, brings important and helpful tips and techniques about water and how to save it – on the water bill, on the plants, on water collection and irrigation, and on Earthkind principles in general. With the continuing drought in Central Texas, finding ways to use water more wisely is extremely important.

The Green Thumb Program, promoted by the local master gardeners, brings important and helpful tips and techniques about water and how to save it – on the water bill, on the plants, on water collection and irrigation, and on Earthkind principles in general. With the continuing drought in Central Texas, finding ways to use water more wisely is extremely important.

The first four 2025 Green Thumb programs will consist of a series of free presentations centered on water conservation.

The series will be presented by Burnet County AgriLife Extension Agent Kelly Tarla. The presentations are scheduled once a month on the third Thursday for the next four months: Natives in the Hill Country Landscape, March 20; Xeriscapes and Other Low Water Landscapes, April 17; Native and Low Water Turf Options, May 15; and Earthkind Principles: Mulching; Rainwater Collection; Irrigation Audits; and Raised Beds June 19.
