The Burnet County Community Resource Center (CRC) received a generous $10,000 donation from Shoot for Coop, an organization dedicated to making a difference in the Hill Country in memory of Cooper Despain. The funds will support individuals and families in need, including providing transportation for elderly residents without family support—the “Orphaned Elderly”—to ensure they can attend vital medical appointments without worry.
Leslie Pilley and Jessica Coffey, board members of the Cooper Despain Memorial, presented the donation on behalf of Shoot for Coop. Created to fund scholarships for top high school seniors in the area, the organization has expanded its mission to help those facing hardships within the community. Their passion for helping students succeed has opened their eyes to other challenges local residents face, and they are committed to honoring Cooper’s legacy by extending support where it’s needed most.
“We know Cooper would want to reach out and help the less fortunate,” said Pilley. “This donation is one way we can carry his spirit forward, ensuring people in our community get the assistance they need.”
