The Marble Falls Hotel Motel Tax Advisory Committee plans to meet noon Feb. 19 to review the possible HOT Fund Award to the Highland Lakes CASI Chili Pod 2025, which conducts the annual Howdy Roo chili and barbecue cook-off.
Discussions may center on whether Howdy Roo should receive the amount of $750 to support the event, given that its sponsors plan to relocate the event to Granite Shoals, instead of the previously planned location in Marble Falls at Lakeside Park and pavilion.
“I think it would be wrong if they did that,” said Craig Schlicke, event coordinator, who has been dubbed Highland Lakes Grand Pepper. “We still plan to use their (Marble Falls) hotels and everything. We hope we can still work together.”
