On Friday, Feb. 14, the First United Bank family across the country, including the Marble Falls branch, participated in Celebrate United Acts of Kindness Day, working with various groups to share the joy of appreciation, while making someone’s day brighter.
In all, 1,235,276 acts of kindness were accomplished across the country among First United Bank employee volunteers as well as participating entities.
“Through the generosity of citizens, community leaders, churches, nonprofits and businesses we
can be a light of hope in a world that may often feel like darkness,” said First United Bank spokeswoman Lisa Manley in a statement. “The act of kindness can be big or small. The beauty of the act is that you thought enough to spread kindness throughout your community.”
To show their appreciation for the hardworking teachers and administrators, a team of volunteers delivered cakes to the staff at Marble Falls Elementary, Marble Falls High School, MFISD Central Office, Falls Career High School, Colt Elementary, Faith Academy, Spicewood Christian Academy, Spicewood Elementary, Marble Falls Middle School, Highland Lakes Elementary and Live Oak Learning Academy.
They also visited several other sites: -Volunteers coaxed the community to gently to clean out their kitchen closets and drop off gently used or reusable grocery bags at The Helping Center of Marble Falls; -Volunteers collected and donated tennis balls and treats to Doggie Styles Pet Salon; -The students at local elementary schools created Valentine’s Day cards to warm the hearts of residents at Pafford Place and Wildflower Meadows Nursing Homes in Burnet. In addition to the heartfelt cards, bank volunteers collected and distributed donated socks primarily provided by First United Bank customers; -Bank employees collected gently used books for The Warehouse, which is organized and coordinated Highland Lakes Crisis Network. The Warehouse, 800 Industrial Blvd., offers items for free to those in need.
Another focus of the day involved appreciation for area first responders.
“In partnership with Mindme, we’ve been spreading appreciation throughout Burnet County by recognizing our emergency responders,” Manley stated. “We’re grateful for the work they do to keep our community safe, and this week, we’re offering our thanks in meaningful ways all week.
“Mindme, our United Acts of Kindness partner, plays an essential role in proactively supporting the mental health of our community,” she added. “Their innovative approach to mental health monitoring, early intervention, and connecting individuals to resources ensures that employees and community members remain healthy, productive, and engaged.
“Together, we can continue to strengthen our community and show our appreciation for all those who contribute to making it a wonderful place to live.”
