The public is invited to attend the Burnet County Elections Administration town hall meeting set for 6 p.m. Feb. 25 in Burnet at the Texas AgriLife Extension, 607 N. Vandeveer.

During the meeting, Burnet County election officials plan to introduce state-of-the-art “ballot on demand” electronic election equipment which could be made available to count local votes during future elections.

“The new law going into effect September 2026 requires all Texas counties to have a voter verifiable paper trail,” County Elections Administrator Doug Ferguson told The Highlander. “It means a voter must be able to see – on paper – their vote selections before they cast their ballot, by inserting it into a ballot scanner at each polling station.”
