The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents named Comptroller Glenn Hegar as the lone finalist to be the system’s next chancellor.
After the 21-day waiting period before final approval, Hegar will have a six-year term as chancellor in front of him governing the system’s 11 universities and multiple state agencies.
“The opportunity to serve as the next Chancellor of the Texas A&M University System is a tremendous honor, and I want to thank each of the Regents for their confidence, yet more importantly for their energy, passion, dedication, and constant commitment to excellence,” Hegar said in a statement.
