City of Meadowlakes

The street sweepers in New Orleans must be busy this morning as Mardi Gras has come and gone. The 40-day Lenten season has begun. It’s a season for self-reflection, sacrifice, almsgiving, and repentance to the extent that it is observed by many of the Christian denominations.

For me, it is the day that I am set to go under the knife for the first time since 1971 when I had my spleen removed after a “touch football” collision with a teammate. It is not frightening, but it is a good excuse for dispensing with today’s Mayor’s Corner. Well maybe next week as I spend time recovering.
