The recent high winds in the Hill Country reset my clock. They made me a kid again.

This may sound strange, but one particular day several days ago we had not only high winds, but sand was in the air, and it took me back to the 1950s when I was a young kid growing up in Midland in West Texas. I was a kid again, that day.

Those were the years of the famous, but almost- forgotten, 1950s drought. My friend, if you think you’ve been through a drought but didn’t experience the 50s in Texas, may I politely say you haven’t really.
