As part of its ongoing commitment to public engagement across the state, the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) recently met with the Kiwanis Club of Highland Lakes in Marble Falls to support their mission of community service and youth engagement.
During the visit, RRC staff members gave a presentation to introduce club members to the agency’s role in safeguarding the public and the environment, which includes regulating oil and gas operations, ensuring pipeline safety and protecting groundwater resources.
Following the presentation, Scott Sroufe, RRC director, Office of Public Engagement, held a Q-and-A session with club members, further discussed safety and environmental stewardship and shared information about career opportunities in environmental sectors. The visit served as a valuable opportunity to strengthen community relationships, promote public awareness of the commission’s work and explore potential future collaborations with the Kiwanis Club in support of local outreach initiatives.
