There is only one contested race during the upcoming Marble Falls city election.

Incumbent Karlee Hubble and former council member Rene Rosales Sr. are running against each other for Council Place 4 during the May 5 election.

Previously, Rosales served one term on city council, from 2020 to 2021.

“I believe in democracy,” Rosales told the Highlander. “I want to serve the city of Marble Falls. I want people to have an official who is ready to show up and listen to them and share their concerns.”

Hubble did not respond to requests for comment by press time April 24.

Other candidates during the May 5 election include former mayor John Packer, the lone candidate for mayor.

Packer served as mayor from 2015 to 2021. Currently, he is one of the Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation directors.

Packer is slated to succeed current mayor Dave Rhodes, who is obligated to step aside because of term limits.

Also, former mayor pro-tem William D. “Dee” Haddock is running unopposed for City Council Place 2, and the incumbent Mayor Protem Craig Magerkurth is running unopposed for re-election to council Place 6.
