U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) has released numbers that show record-low border crossings in March, signaling a potential shift in illegal immigration patterns and the effectiveness of current border enforcement strategies.

“U.S. Border Patrol’s apprehensions along the southwest border for the entire month of March 2025 were lower than the first two days of March 2024,” said CBP Acting Commissioner Pete Flores.

On the first of April, CBP detailed the “dramatic drop” in border crossings, around 7,180, as compared to the 155,000-per-month average from the previous four years. This decrease was further highlighted by numbers that showed a “95% drop from the previous administration’s average daily encounters of 5,100 per day” compared to just around 230 per day currently.
