Highland Lakes Fishing Reports - Weekend of May 2, 2025

EXCELLENT. Water slight stain; 69 degrees; 21.30 feet below pool. The 5 hours a day of generation and strong south winds has blown some depleted oxygen water around the lake. You may have to move around a lot to avoid the bad water.
On Lake LBJ, bass are good skipping docks with craws, flukes and worms, or cranking bulkheads and shallow rocks. File photo

The shad spawn continues at daylight on most sandy shorelines and the white bass and striper are around the bait and will bite well. The stripers are good with the best bite on live shad, but some catches trolling in 25-37 feet of water.

Be aware, the lake has reached the level where the submerged trees are starting to show and many others not far below the surface – Report by Travis Holland, TH Fishing.
