Incumbents win; new faces uncontested

Voters delivered a sweep in favor of all four Marble Falls ISD bond propositions – totaling $172.2 million for extracurricular facilities, expansion and upgrades, according to May 3 election results from the Burnet County Elections Office.

Throughout the area, incumbents retained their seats while several new faces will join their city daises due to uncontested races.

MFISD

Marble Falls ISD incumbent Place 1 Trustee Gary Boshears will retain his seat after defeating his opponent Tucker Edwards, 1,064 votes (51.3%) to 1,010 votes (48.7%).

Also incumbent Trustee Crystal Tubig will retain her seat at Place 2 in an uncontested election.

Another incumbent, Marble Falls Place 4 City Councilwoman Karlee Hubble won, 362 to 204 (63.96%), against her opponent former councilman Rene Rosales.

Uncontested races included John Packer for

Election mayor, Dee Haddock for Place 2 and Craig Magerkurth for Place 6.

Cottonwood Shores In Cottonwood Shores, Gary Parsons was elected to Place 2. He defeated Rickey Longabaugh, 45 (54.22%) to 38 (45.78%) votes. In other Cottonwood Shores races, Jared Dodd becomes the mayor in an uncontested race and Laura Hankins will be added to the Place 4 position.

Granite Shoals

Granite Shoals Mayor Ron Munos will retain his seat as mayor after defeating his opponent Ben Roman Jr., 214-107, 66.67% of the vote. Other councilors elected in uncontested reaces for the city of Granite Shoals included Brian Edwards, Place 1; Judy Salvaggio, Place 3 and Michael Berg, Place 5.

In other elections: • For Emergency Services District No. 7, Proposition A passed to assist

with raising funds for EMS with an 8% increase in their tax rate. The vote was 48 to 31, passing by 60.76%.

In that district, one vote authorized the creation of the Moonlight Bend Municipal Utility District as well as a set of directors – John Alvarez, Lucas Lahaug, Ryan LaMarre, James William Swinnea and Eric Vann; and

• For the Cimarron Shores Water Control and Improvement utility Bond Election and Utility Refunding Bond Election, not a single vote was cast to represent that property, located just off RR 1431 east of Marble Falls, according to unofficials election results.
