Two new faces will join Burnet County as elected officials following the May 28 runoff election.

According to preliminary Burnet County runoff election results, Deanne Fisher won the Republican nomination for tax assessorcollector by 58.16% of the vote. In the Burnet County commissioner pct. 3 race, Chad Collier received 58.14% of the vote to become the GOP nominee. Fisher defeated Susan Allen by a vote of 1,180 to 849. Collier beat Homer Will by a vote of 400 to 288.

During the election, Collier and Will made the election about roads.

As the runoff campaigns kicked off, both candidates offered statements to the media and on social media.

On the campaign trail,

Collier discussed precinct budgets.

“Precinct 4 has a bud- get of $1.45 million. Pre cinct 3 (the position in which he was elected) has a budget of $1.3 mil - lion. That's a 156,000 dif ference,” he shared with voters on May 15. "Also, precinct 3 has 92 miles of roads. Precinct 4 has 52 miles of roads. That's 40 miles difference, and they

have a higher budget.

“It’s my job as a commissioner to look for more revenue, to generate more revenue without an increase in taxes and get these roads maintained and up to par," Collier added.

Both primary winners do not have opposition in the upcoming general election in the fall, so they will be sworn in Jan. 1, 2025 to the positions.
