An investigation is underway in the death of a woman injured Saturday after falling out of a boat on Lake LBJ, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife.
The incident unfolded just after 5 p.m. May 10 on the waterway adjacent to Highland Haven.
“Preliminary information indicates that a woman fell from a vessel while it was being docked and sustained injuries from the vessel’s propeller,” said TPWD spokeswoman Maggie Berger in a statement. “Unfortunately, she later succumbed to those injuries.”
Texas Game Wardens are working with the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office on the investigation.
“The circumstances surrounding how the vessel’s throttle engaged and what caused the woman to fall overboard are unknown,” she continued. “During the incident, both the dock and an unoccupied vessel were also damaged.”
Granite Shoals Fire Rescue also responded to the incident after being toned out a 5:13 p.m.
Officials say there were “several people in the watercraft. Only one person fell out, got injured.”
TPWD officials are withholding further detail pending the completion of the report.
