We are sad to announce that Nelda Darlene Hanson left this world to be with our Heavenly Father on April 28, 2025. She was a dedicated wife to Jerry Hanson and a beloved mother to 2 daughters, loving “Mella” to 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Nelda was born on April 15, 1951, to Lloyd “Son” and Gene Warner in Lampasas, Texas. She was the oldest of four children. In 1971, two years after graduating high school, she married the love of her life, Jerry Hanson of Lampasas, Texas, on May 29, 1971. Their first child came in 1974, Edith Joeise Woods, of Sherman, Texas. Four years later, their second child was born, Jami Kay Hanson of Lampasas, Texas.
She had a passion for working with children her entire life. Jerry and Nelda moved their family to Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1980 where she soon started working as a paraprofessional at Huey Elementary School. Her love for children and God grew stronger as she became a teacher and leader at Wichita Christian School for many years. Both Jerry and Nelda were 4-H leaders before their girls were born and continued until both children graduated high school. Nelda was always making a difference in people’s lives.
Nelda loved and took pride in decorating her home inside and out for every holiday. Each year,and for every holiday, she enjoyed decorating with many unique details, and not one year or holiday looked the same. Nelda was a crafter with many talents, and spent multiple hours daily in her shop sewing, painting, building and just creating anything out of everything!
Nelda Darlene Hanson was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Gene Warner, brother in law Randy Shelburn and is survived by her husband, Jerry Hanson, siblings Jeanie and Rob Wucher, Bud and Toi Warner and Joy Shelburn, daughter and son in law Joei and Kevin Woods, daughter Jami Hanson, grandchildren Harley and Jacob Robinson, Hailey Madsen, Jerri and Kennedy Harmonson, Janna Kellum, Jeramie Kellum and great grandchildren Brylee Harmonson, Hudson Robinson, Elih Kellum who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
