Authorities temporarily cleared a post office of patrons and staff for three hours in Marble Falls after receiving a report of a suspicious package May 26.

Officials reported that a poorly-taped box placed by the door raised suspicion.

According to Marble Falls Police, first responders arrived on the scene just before 10 a.m. that morning at the USPS office, 1212 U.S. 281.

“As a precaution, the Post Office and a nearby business were evacuated,” said MFPD Capt. James Cole in a media release. “With assistance from the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office, Marble Falls Area EMS, Marble Falls Fire Rescue, Austin Police Department Bomb Squad, Austin/Travis County EMS Special Operations, and the Austin Fire Department, the package was safely assessed and determined to pose no threat.

“At this time, no criminal charges are being filed in connection with the incident.”
