His Joshua House, the faith-based men’s recovery home in Kingsland, recently completed major renovations that have transformed both the size and atmosphere of the facility, allowing them to serve even more men seeking sobriety and a new life.

The recovery house, 120 Dan St., underwent an extensive facelift — including new flooring, fresh paint throughout, up-graded lighting, and an expansion that added 1,000 square feet to the building.

The additional space nearly doubles the facility’s capacity, increasing the number of beds from eight to fourteen.

“The bones are here, but everything else has been upgraded,” said Director Donald Wayne Thompson. “By bringing guys into a nice, clean home it sets the tone for afterwards, in their sobriety and life. Instead of having to learn that after the fact, they’ve already been brought into His Joshua House where it is the standard.”

As part of its continued commitment to faith-based recovery, His Joshua House also expanded its spiritual programming.

Bible studies, which previously met once a week, have now grown to four times a week.

“We’re faith-based. That’s what we’re supported by,” Thompson explained. “My oath to Christ was through the 12 steps in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous.”

With its newly updated facility, His Joshua House is now preparing for one of its most important annual events — the 8th Annual His Joshua House Dinner & Auction, scheduled for June 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. This year’s fundraiser will be held at a new location, First Baptist Church in Kingsland, which offers additional seating, improved parking, and a more spacious environment for attendees.

The Freedom Feast will feature homecooked BBQ, accompanied by homemade side dishes and desserts — all prepared with love by local supporters of the ministry.

His Joshua House is currently accepting donations for both the silent and live auctions, raffles, and door prizes.

Items such as coolers, binoculars, hunting equipment, clothing, exotic hunts, and dining gift certificates from area restaurants are just a few examples of donations that help make the event successful each year. In addition, volunteers are welcome in all capacities to assist with the event.

For tickets, donations, or volunteer opportunities, please contact Thompson at 830-953-0769.

His Joshua House continues to stand as a beacon of hope for men seeking to rebuild their lives through faith, sobriety and supportive community.
