Service League awards $65K in scholarships

Highland Lakes Service League awarded scholarships totaling $65,935 to the following deserving women • Mariah Aguilar attends Colorado Technical University majoring in business administration. She works full time and volunteers at Spicewood Elementary and at the ARK of Highland Lakes.

Highland Lakes Service League awarded scholarships totaling $65,935 to the following deserving women

• Mariah Aguilar attends Colorado Technical University majoring in business administration. She works full time and volunteers at Spicewood Elementary and at the ARK of Highland Lakes.

• Teresa Baca expects to graduate with a bachelor of science degree in social work in December 2025 and has been accepted into the accelerated program for a master’s degree at Eastern New Mexico University. Teresa is self-employed and is interning at the ARK of Highland Lakes.

• Stephanie Barry attends Texas Tech University majoring in university studies with a concentration in Human Resources development and organizational leadership. She works full time at Marble Falls ISD. She received a Highland Lakes scholarship last year.

• Jennifer Busby is working toward getting her teaching certificate through Region 13. She has a passion for special needs and will complete her certification in special education in June 2026. She is a teacher at Llano ISD.

• Elizabeth Dickson is currently a substitute teacher in Marble Falls ISD. She is working on completing her teaching certification through 240 Certification with an emphasis on English Language Arts and Reading

grades 7-12.

• Angela Grenwelge is working on her masters in Biblical Counseling at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She and her husband lead a group called BIPP (Batterer Intervention Prevention Program). She expects to graduate in 2027.

• Elizabeth Hethera attends Austin Community College working toward a degree in Technical Communications. Her goal is to write grants for non-profits. She is a graduate of the Getting Ahead program.

• Kathryn Jackson attends Wichita State University working on a graduate certificate in English Literature and Composition. She teaches English at Marble Falls High School and after certification she will teach the dual credit English classes at the high school.

• Florisbel Macedo will graduate in May 2026 from Texas Tech University with a degree in General Studies. Her goal is to attend law school and give back to her community and make a difference.

• Emily Mendoza is working on her master of science in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on STEM at Texas Tech University while teaching anatomy and physiology at Marble Falls high school. Emily received a Highland Lakes Service League scholarship last year.

• Madison Owens is an apprentice teacher at Burnet High School. She attends Grand Canyon University majoring in Educational Studies. Her goal is to be a high school dance instructor.

• Crystal Perez was named para-professional of the year at Marble Falls high school. She attends Western Governors University majoring in Accounting. She plans to graduate in 2027.

• Lindsay Rasmussen attends the University of Northern Iowa working toward a Masters in Early Childhood Education at the same time finishing a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood special education. She plans to graduate in May 2027.

• Nichole Ritchie teaches social studies at Llano Junior High. She is involved in the Burnet County historical commission. She attends Gettysburg College in the master’s program in US History. Upon completion, she hopes to teach dual credit history at a local high school.

• AshLee Schoepf attends Lamar University

working on a master’s degree in Education and school counseling. She currently teaches at Spicewood Elementary and plans to graduate in December 2026.

• Jennifer Schuetz is working toward a degree in psychology at Columbia Southern University and will graduate in October 2025. She and her husband have recently started an EMT program. Her goal is to counsel first responders.

Jennifer received a Highland Lakes Service League scholarship last year.

• Etta Pearl Torns attends Colorado Christian University majoring in Biblical Studies with a minor in psychology. Pearl will graduate in May 2026 and plans to help women through biblical studies. She received a Highland Lakes Service League scholarship last year.

• Nichole Tryba is currently in the Army reserves. She attends the University of Arizona Global Campus majoring in Educational Studies. She will graduate in December 2025 and hopes to teach in the county.

• Courtney Williamson attends Ashland University.

She will graduate in August 2027 with a master’s in American History and Government. She currently teaches at Marble Falls Middle School. Her degree will allow her to teach dual credit or AP US History and government in a high school or community college.
