The Cottonwood Shores City Council previously approved the purchase of new AMI (Advanced Meter Infrastructure) which are “highly accurate” lic water flow, which means they will last longer. AMI meter reading systems also provide live water usage updates, customer alerts, immediately detects leaks, and allows customers to access/audit/control their own meter data through a new Customer Portal.
A contractor began replacement of approximately 760 existing water meters on May 27, which has now been completed.
The city previously mailed a letter to all water meter account holders, announcing the meter replacement project. A second letter will be mailed in early July, explaining the Customer Portal details, benefits, and methods on how to use the new and expanded Customer Portal, to help customers control their water use. These new meters are so accurate, they will measure a cup of water, flowing through the meter.
