An incumbent Republican State Board of Education (SBOE) member representing Burnet County has won his party nomination. Tom Maynard defeated current Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD) board member Mary Bone in the GOP primary runoff election for SBOE in District 10.
Maynard received 51.9% of the vote. As of May 30, results from the Texas Secretary of State’s Office showed the vote total was 24,517 to 22,760.
He will face the Democratic nominee Raquel Saenz Ortiz, who defeated Daniel Caldwell with 78% of the vote (35,622 to 9,703 votes).
