GShoals relaunches deer culling program
An overabundance of deer within the Granite Shoals city limits have been known to make themselves at home, prompting officials to relaunch their harvesting program to help minimize crashes and property damage. File photo

Anyone wanting to be part of a new deer harvesting program with the City of Granite Shoals has four remaining dates to qualify as a harvester under the city’s rewritten ordinance.

Those dates and times are Wednesday, Aug. 13. 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 16, 8-11 a.m.; Saturday, Sept. 6, 8-11 a.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 20, 8-11 a.m.

The first qualifying date was Aug. 2; a qualifying date originally set by the city’s wildlife committee for Aug. 30 has been canceled, according to the city’s web site.
