Authorities brought a standoff to an end Sept. 11 after the suspect considered a threat to a female on the property barricaded himself in a Kingsland residence, officials said.

At approximately 10 a.m. that day, Llano County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported “disturbance” in the 1000 block of Willow Drive in Kingsland.

“It was reported that a male suspect was on top of a vehicle attempting to break in while a female was inside,” according to a press release.

The suspect was later identified as Jesse Daniel Savage, who is currently on parole.

“Before deputies arrived, it was believed that Savage had fled the area,” the statement continued. “Deputies made contact with the female victim and escorted her to a safe location.

“During the investigation, the victim disclosed that Savage had strangled her, impeding her ability to breathe,” the release stated. “Deputies and LCSO Investigators returned to the residence, where they discovered that Savage had returned and barricaded himself inside.

“A perimeter was quickly secured, and an arrest warrant was obtained for Assault Family Violence – Impeding Breath or Circulation, a 3rd degree felony.”

Texas Department of Public Safety patrol troopers assisted LCSO crisis negotiators during the incident.

“LCSO crisis negotiators began attempts to de-escalate the situation and encourage Savage to surrender peacefully. Despite repeated efforts, Savage refused to cooperate,” the statement continued. “After a prolonged standoff, a non-lethal pepperball launcher was deployed to gain compliance, and Savage was taken into custody without further incident.”

Hamilton Area EMS evaluated Savage at the scene and provided medical attention before he was transported and booked into the Llano County Jail. His bond was set at $100,000.
