Community to unite for Rick Edwards Day of Service

Community to unite for Rick Edwards Day of Service
On Friday, February 20, students from every MFISD campus will join volunteers to complete a wide variety of service projects that make a tangible impact.

The Ark of Highland Lakes and Marble Falls Independent School District are proud to present REDS – Rick Edwards Day of Service, a community-wide day of action and service scheduled for Friday, Feb. 20, 2026.

This annual event brings together hundreds of MFISD students, volunteers, churches, and community partners to serve residents and strengthen neighborhoods across Marble Falls and Burnet County.

Named in honor of Rick Edwards, a respected local businessman, longtime school board trustee, Ark of Highland Lakes Board Member, and servant leader in the Highland Lakes, REDS celebrates his legacy of compassion, leadership, and love for community. Edwards served on the Marble Falls ISD Board of Trustees from 2009 until his passing in 2022 and was widely admired for his belief in servant leadership and community engagement.

Projects List

On Friday, February 20, students from every MFISD campus will join volunteers to complete a wide variety of service projects that make a tangible impact. Project types include neighborhood cleanups, landscaping and yard work, painting and light repairs, supporting local nonprofits, packing and distributing donations, assisting neighbors in need, and other acts of service that uplift the community.

Students Tasks

The event is designed to be inclusive and empowering. Younger students will engage in age-appropriate service activities on campus such as assembling care packages, creating cards and letters, and other supportive tasks. Secondary students and adult volunteers will serve throughout the community at homes, parks, nonprofit sites, and local partner locations.

Learning and Impact REDS not only provides valuable community support, but it also teaches students about the value of service, character, and compassion.

By participating alongside peers and community members, students gain firsthand experience in making a difference and continuing the spirit of giving that Rick Edwards exemplified throughout his life.

This year’s event reflects years of successful collaboration between Ark of Highland Lakes and Marble Falls ISD, engaging families, students, and volunteers in meaningful work that strengthens community bonds and spreads goodwill across the Highland Lakes region.

Volunteers can sign up to serve on Friday, Feb. 20.

Community members and organizations with projects needing help can submit service project ideas for consideration.

All project types are welcomed, from small acts of assistance to larger service efforts. For more information, to register as a volunteer, or to submit a service project, visit the official event page or contact Ark of Highland Lakes at 325-4233662. Kevin Naumann is the executive director of Ark of Highland Lakes.
