Central Texas Electric Cooperative is urging residents in Gillespie, Llano, Mason and surrounding counties to prepare now for dangerous winter weather expected this weekend.
Forecasts call for freezing rain, sleet and bitter cold, with temperatures dropping well below freezing and wind chills reaching the teens or lower. With conditions like this, power outages are likely, and travel could become hazardous, especially on bridges and overpasses.
CTEC encourages residents to prepare now by charging phones and backup batteries, gathering blankets, water and nonperishable food, and planning for possible extended power interruptions. Residents are also encouraged to check on neighbors who may need help staying warm.
