Rain prompts counties to allow outdoor burning

Due to recent wet weather, Burnet and Llano county official have lifted the ban on outdoor burning.

The lifting of the burn bans apply to the unincorporated areas outside of the municipalities.

On Jan. 27, Burnet County Emergency Management Coordinator Derek Marchio made the announcement at the Burnet County Commissioners Court.

He declared local rural areas are currently at “a low fire risk.” The commissioners then lifted the burn ban.

Officials ask the public to notify the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office about outdoor burning. Call 512-756-8080.

Llano County

In Llano County, the sheriff’s office has notified the public that the burn ban has been lifted temporarily.

The move is a temporary allowance from Thursday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m. to end Sunday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m.

The countywide end to the prohibition is scheduled to end Feb. 1, at 10 a.m.

All burning must be reported to the Llano County Sheriff’s Office at 325-247-5767.
